The “ Marsh Museum of Argenta” in the Casino di Campotto, is the organisational centre of the Argenta Ecomuseum; thanks to its peculiar communicative and educational systems, in 1992 it has been awarded the prize of “European Museum of the year” by the European Committee. Situated at the entrance to the Val Campotto Oasis and refurbished in 2007, the Museum documents the evolution of the natural environment and the intervention of man in an area dominated by waters. In fact the natural Oasis of Argenta and Campotto Marshes is the 6th station of the Po Delta Park, a relevant wetland area for migratory birds species, for flora, fauna, and minor fauna like insects - coleopters, dragonflies and butterflies of relevant European protection.
Museum combines the historical and anthropological sections, putting in evidence both the evolution of the territory all around Argenta, starting from some maps recalling the morphology of this territory, and the story of the human efforts against mud and flood-damage in the centuries, the work, the instruments employed in reclamation land.
The Museum combines also the cognitive and emotional approach in the naturalistic sections, in order the four habitats, where scientific information in the big nature archive, and multimedia and visual instruments, music and emotion suggestions, and the Sensitive room, prepare visitors to a direct adventure in the nature, outside, in the living museum: Val Compotto Oasis.
