Postojna Cave is the greatest tourist attraction in Slovenia and one of the world's largest karst monuments. 21 km of passages, galleries and magnificent halls offer a unique experience of the underground world. An easy access is certainly one of the main reasons for such popularity and a large number of visitors, which has already reached 35 million in almost 200 years. Today a visitor can enjoy the tour of 5 km through tunnels and passages which takes about an hour and a half. The Postojna Cave, offers a unique and adventurous ride with a special train, which takes visitors into the cave, through a beautiful subterranean world full of playful limestone sculptures. The visitors can see one part of a scenic underground maze from the train, and then enjoy the second part on foot and admire playful stalactite forms in no hurry.
We are setting up a new exhibition space in the neighborhood of Postojna Cave (Postojnska jama): first part will represent the geological history and formation of the Postojna cave system. The second part will represent the history and the role of man in Postojna cave, including speleobiology and the last part will represent the history and development of tourism of the Postojna cave. The collection will include multimedia presentations, diorama presentations, visitors centre and web site presentations with interactive games.
